In 2018, Artsflame began with a simple observation: talented young people had the ability to create, but far fewer had access to the education, platforms, networks and opportunities needed to build sustainable creative careers.
For young artists outside metropolitan areas, even participating in the country’s existing exhibition ecosystem could be prohibitively expensive. Creative education was often inaccessible, professional development was limited, and the idea of building a serious career through creativity remained unfamiliar to many.
Artsflame began as an attempt to make that ecosystem more accessible.
What started as an effort to create affordable opportunities for young creatives has grown into a much larger ambition: to help build the infrastructure around African creativity.
Artsflame works at the intersection of creative education, professional development, cultural platforms and community. We are building the structures that help African creatives move from talent to meaningful creative careers.
Africa has no shortage of creative talent. What is missing is the infrastructure to help that talent thrive.
Too many aspiring creatives encounter the same barriers: limited access to quality education, uncertainty about their creative identity, inadequate professional development, few affordable platforms to exhibit and connect, and an ecosystem that too often treats creativity as a luxury rather than a viable profession.
Artsflame exists to change that.
We build accessible pathways for creatives to discover, develop, professionalise and connect — while creating the platforms, communities and opportunities that allow creative careers to grow.
Through education, exhibitions, discourse and an expanding creator network, we are working to strengthen the infrastructure around African creativity and contribute to a continent where creative talent can become a sustainable force for cultural and economic development.

We envision an Africa where creativity is properly discovered, developed, professionalised and sustained — and where African cities stand at the centre of global cultural production.

In short, our vision is to globalise the African Art Industry.
